Safe Operations |
The health and safety of our employees is very important to E.ON. Therefore, we reestablished the Occupational Health and Safety department within the Corporate Responsibility (CR) division at Corporate Center in 2007. Our objective is to pool our skills in this area in order to use them more effectively. The department harmonizes and controls all safety-related processes throughout the group.
In 2007, we also approved a groupwide health and safety strategy in order to integrate occupational safety into our employee’s daily working life. The goal is to establish a safety culture throughout the group.
We support the fitness and well-being of our employees through various measures promoting health. To ensure the long-term employability, we are looking for ways to keep older employees at work longer and to enable us to continue making use of their knowledge.
Our goal as far as occupational safety and healthcare are concerned is to be the best company in the industry in all the countries in which we operate and we are heading in the right direction. Our workplaces are already among the safest in the energy industry. In comparison to our regional competitors, our market units have a significantly lower accident rate. In 2007, the number of accidents within the E.ON Group fell by another 25 percent.

Right to Occupational Safety
At E.ON, occupational health and safety are embedded in our processes and structures. Close cooperation with unions and employee representatives is a long-standing tradition with us – in part, it is also required by law. There are no known violations of these legal requirements. The works councils are integrated into occupational health and safety processes at all market units. These include the occupational health and safety committee, training programs and the integration of employee representatives into the accident reporting process and the investigation of workplace accidents. Occupational health and safety regulations are also an integral part of our labor agreements as well as the compensation model for all our managers.
